This year’s 49th Nutrition Month celebration was themed “Healthy Diet Gawing Affordable for All”. The Nutrition Month campaign aimed to raise awareness on supporting Filipinos to improve access to affordable healthy diets to reduce malnutrition and improve food security, health, and quality of life. Healthy eating involves preparing food to preserve nutrients and prevent diseases, as well as paying attention to affordable amounts to spend on healthy food.
In line with this, St. Peter the Apostle School celebrated Nutrition Month last August 7 to 11, 2023. The Grades 1 to 3 pupils showcased their creativity by narrating the importance and health benefits of eating their chosen fruits or vegetables while wearing their fruits and vegetables costumes made of cartolina paper. The Grades 4 to 6 pupils made their one-week healthy and affordable meal plan to be presented in class highlighting the importance of eating healthy and affordable food.
Meanwhile, our junior high school students also participated in the celebration. The Grade 7 students demonstrated their skills in cooking and preparing healthy and affordable Filipino dishes.  Next are the Grade 8 students who cooked healthy and affordable Chinese appetizers. On the other hand, Grades 9 and 10 students had their “Peterians Went to Market” activity where they bought healthy and affordable ingredients for a Japanese sandwich (Grade 9) and English breakfast with a Filipino twist (Grade 10) which they found more challenging. The senior high school students performed their Zumba Dance.
Altogether with the cooperation of the entire SPAS community, the celebration was a success. Peterians were reminded of the value of eating healthy and affordable food.
