Welcome to St. Peter the Apostle School!
St. Peter the Apostle School’s Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP), Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP), and the Student Response Team (SRT) recently took part in a first aid readiness seminar led by Dr. Marc Evans M. Abat, a grade six parent. The training aimed to provide students and parents with vital first aid skills to effectively manage common injuries and emergencies including cuts, burns, choking, and fractures.
Designed to enhance safety within the school environment, the seminar emphasized the critical role of basic first aid knowledge. Dr. Abat underscored its importance, stating, “In emergencies, acting quickly and calmly can save lives.” By equipping students and parents with these essential skills, the program seeks to build a confident and prepared community of young responders.
The workshop included both instructional and practical hands-on sessions. Participants practiced CPR techniques, learned proper bleeding control methods, and became familiar with the contents and uses of items within a standard first aid kit. Dr. Abat also guided students and parents through the initial steps of injury assessment and how to call for help, a fundamental skill in managing emergencies.
Looking to the future, the school plans to establish this first aid readiness training as an annual event, with a vision of creating a community of safety-conscious students prepared to respond to emergencies in and beyond the school grounds. The initiative reflects a growing commitment to proactive safety education, empowering students with life-saving skills that foster courage in times of need.
