Peterians Return to School

After having all the classrooms closed for two academic years, SPAS opened its doors again to welcome the Peterians on August 2, their first day of school. Everyone was glad and excited to be back at school again. In-class learning is back, and face-to-face interactions with classmates, friends, teachers and other school employees can now happen; however, everyone understands that health and safety protocols must be observed.

The Parents ‘Auxiliary and the Alumni Association Officers, teachers, and non-teaching staff have collaborated to make the face-to-face setup work successfully in school. Months before the August opening, the administrators and the non-teaching personnel worked together in preparing the school for the face-to-face classes. The preparations included purchase of temperature scanners, air purifiers, sanitation, hygiene and disinfection supplies, teaching materials, and many more were procured. To add to the list were several thermal scanners donated by SPASPA. The outside walls of the entire building were newly painted to signify a fresh start for the returning students. Teachers had reported to work physically daily for academic and classroom preparations. They were even required to join the Retreat held in St. Joseph Friary in Tagaytay as an integral part of spiritual preparedness for tackling the tasks of being educators.

The soft opening of classes is held by having Student Orientation by batches on different days so that the students could get acquainted and adjust with the school environment first before formal classes started They seemed to enjoy coming back to their second home as they met their old and new classmates. Their faces showed eagerness about learning in this new normal way of schooling with face masks on, alcohol bottles hanging in their bags, and observing physical distancing. They went home with hearts seemingly filled of hope for successful learning in hybrid classes.

At the end of the day, after all the things that happened, the students were reminded that it is only with courage that will put us into moving forward. So, children of St. Peter, go and brave your way to your school, St. Peter the Apostle School!
